School Philosophy and Spiritual Formation

Seton School is a Catholic school in which Spiritual formation is an integral part of the program.
  • It is why we are here;
  • It is what Seton Catholic School is all about;
  • It is why the school exists.

We are a family, a school family, that is devoted to building a community which encourages the development of our students according to their own cultural pattern, as well as their own individual pace and potential toward the realization of Christian living.

We are dedicated to assisting each family in preparing their children for life and in helping them achieve and develop...

  • a life centered in Jesus Christ
  • a good self concept
  • a well-disciplined and orderly mind
  • a healthy, sound body
  • an appreciation of the value of knowledge
  • basic skills
  • standards of social behavior
  • creativity
  • questioning and analytical abilities

It is our goal to teach with the same passion and compassion that Jesus did. It is our goal for our students and their families to interact in a family-like atmosphere as Jesus intended. All of us working together to foster the feeling of family and fellowship will enable us to offer our children a sound education in the most loving and Christian environment possible.

Parent Responsibilities, Attitude, and Cooperation

The enrollment of a child/ren at Seton Catholic School means cooperation with efforts and objectives set by school personnel. Enrollment at the school is an agreement to read and sign the parent/student handbook, and to support the parish school's philosophy, policies and programs.

The parish school and parents need to work together for the education of the child. If a student is to benefit from the educational program at Seton Catholic School, parental attitude must be positive and supportive. Parental disruption of the educational, philosophical, or Christian atmosphere of the parish school is indicative of the need to seek another educational institution, which satisfies parental expectations.

Be an active participating member of Seton Catholic School or in your own community.

Volunteer your stewardship to the parish and to the school.

Be convinced that the education at Seton Catholic School is the best for your child and let your child know this.

Communicate a positive attitude of support and encouragement to your child regarding both her own work and development, and the intentions of the school personnel and programs.

Have the desire that your child learn as much as he/she is capable.

Continually remind your child that rules are interpreted by those who are responsible for them, and these interpretations are intended for the good of the child.

Accept the outlined standards for the behavior of your child while he/she is in school.

Discuss the child's problems with the teacher and principal in light of trying to find solutions rather than finding fault.

Provide the atmosphere and encouragement for the effective use of time spent on homework.

Visit the school to learn what is being done for your child.

Communicate concerns in a Christ-like attitude that shows respect.
