Dear Seton Families,
Deck the Halls has always been one of my favorite Seton traditions. I love having all the students gather together to begin the holiday season at Seton with prayer and song. I am sure we all have memories of sitting on the floor at grandma’s house gathered together with our entire family laughing, talking, and definitely eating. Just like those memories of our childhood warm us, I hope one day our kids can look back at their years here at Seton during Christmas and be filled with love and joy. Please take a minute to stand in front of our Seton Christmas Tree filled with homemade décor and be filled with the joy of the season.
Sergeant Vince Trenga, School Safety & Public Relations Officer from the Meadville City Police Department, will conduct A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training with our students during his scheduled classroom visitations next week for grades K-4. Sergeant Trenga has worked very hard to make this tough topic elementary friendly in a non-fearful way. The lessons will be done in an elementary appropriate format based on a student-friendly book. Never in the lesson will he use words such as gun or shooter. He will present the information with the analogy of the students are sheep, the teacher is the shepherd, and the stranger is the wolf. The students will be taught what to do if an unsafe situation occurs.
Rest assured that the format of the program has been specifically designed for the elementary-aged students. All elementary students who attend Crawford Central School District will hear the exact lesson from Sergeant Trenga. Grades 5th -8th will receive training in January – February during one of their scheduled health classes. Feel free to call me with any questions or contact Sergeant Vince Trenga directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or 814-333-3303. As a parent, I understand this is a difficult reality to face. But just as we practice fire and tornado drills, we need practice if an unsafe situation occurs. The goal is to enable students to do the safest things possible if a situation occurs. Please continue to pray for the safety of all students and schools throughout our country.
The December calendar is packed with fun-filled holiday inspired events. Please reference the school calendar to stay current on upcoming events. Misplace the calendar? No problem! All school calendars are posted on the school website under the heading parents.
Have a good weekend and God Bless,
