On behalf of the entire Seton Catholic School faculty and staff, I hope you have enjoyed a restful and relaxing summer. As we begin this new school year, I am particularly grateful for the blessing of our community of staff, students, and families that make Seton great.
There is something magical about the start of a new school year. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved preparing for a new school year. For me, it is always a time that floods the senses. I can still remember the smell of the grass on the practice fields at soccer and football camps. It was distinctly different. I always felt it was a personal invitation to prepare for fall. The beginning of a new school year is more than just the awe of a new box of crayons or the crispness of new school clothes. It is the next chapter filled with new milestones and the opportunity for endless possibilities to grow personally and academically. I invite you to join in the excitement that a new school year can bring.
A Meet the Teacher and Parent Informational Night for students entering pre-school, kindergarten, and 1st grade will be held Tuesday, August 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please look for a postcard from your child’s teacher with more information.
We will hold our annual Parent Informational Night for parents of children in grades 2-8 on Wednesday, September 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We will begin with a presentation in the gym. After the presentation, you will be able to visit your children’s classrooms. If you have a child in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade, you will meet the teachers in the cafeteria. The parents of 7th and 8th grade students will receive their child’s iPads after meeting with the teachers. Art/music, computer/library, and gym teachers will be available to meet in the cafeteria. Refreshments will be served. This event is for parents only. We would like all parents in grades 2-8 to attend our Parent Informational Night. We look forward to seeing everyone!
Friday Folders will go home every Friday. The folders are filled with important parent information and monthly calendars. They need to be signed and returned to school the following Monday. Please anticipate the first Friday Folder to be filled with documents that will require your review and signature.
For the safety of the students and to be in compliance with Pennsylvania State laws and Diocese of Erie policies, all volunteers must have proper clearances. Mandated Reporter Compliance and Occasional Volunteer Conduct documents must be completed every year. In compliance with new Diocesan policies, as of July 1, 2018, anyone wishing to accompany their child or chaperone on field trips must be a regular volunteer. There will be no exceptions to these laws and policies. The requirements and associated forms are available on the school website at www.seton-school.com/volunteers-clearances/ or by contacting the office. If you plan to volunteer at any time throughout the school year, please complete all necessary paperwork.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school at (814) 336-2320. Please visit the school website at www.seton-school.com to access an extensive amount of information including the school newsletters, monthly calendars, and the student handbook. If you wish to have a printed copy of the handbook, please contact the office to request one.
In order to ensure each child’s success, we hope to partner with you to help your children grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our students are always at the heart of all that we do. We thank God for them and for you. Thank you for believing in Seton and valuing the quality of education provided at Seton Catholic School.
I am looking forward to the school year ahead of us and getting to know you and your children. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like to discuss.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Mrs. Laura Blake
